A Colorful Park Avenue Apartment

Getting the Look for Less!

Interior designer Christina Murphy created a bright and modern living room in a Park Avenue apartment. To keep this classic prewar apartment in New York from feeling frumpy, designer Christina Murphy chose a vibrant, modern color palette. "Punches of color keep a room feeling youthful and engaging," she says. To keep the room from getting too crazy, the sofa, and book shelves are all white. A herringbone pattern hand-painted by Christopher Rollinson gives the living room its "wow" factor." You can get this look yourself by using chevron printed fabric and a staple gun. I found chevron fabric on etsy available by the yard. (check out the treasury below for all etsy resources mentioned in this blog post) As the designer says, "In an important room like your living room, shelves should be a little more styled. The Park avenue apartment has a love seat by Lee Industries but I found a faux leather love seat by metrosofa that is long on style.

Above the sofa hangs a painting by Miriam Schulman which has been digitally added to this room inspiration to show you how this artwork would look in your home. The wall lamps here are from Circa Lighting. On etsy, I liked a few versions: GoodlookinVintage  has a very modern retro look - but I think they only have one since it is vintage. If you need a pair, go to IndustrialRewind  who has custom lighting. You would sopend a fortune for the antique English chair in Clarence House Fleuret Jasper pictured above. To get the same cozy seating area with a bright pop of color ModTiques has a mid-century chair in chartreuse green. To complete the coziness, add a white fringe blanket by CricketsHome and ikat pillows by BerdelHome.

Beguiling Begonias, watercolor by Miriam Schulman
An orange floor pillow completes the scene-- so many to choose from but I liked the floor cushion by itsonetwothree for its scale. When investing in art, why not show off the art with picture lighting? This vintage picture light by 3sisterstreasures is chartreuse green- perfect to complement the peacock art. In an upscale apartment you expect fresh flowers on the table, to enjoy flowers all year round, perhaps an original watercolor painting of begonias?

Now for the art: Looking for dramatic peacock decor in modern bright chartreuse and teal blue? This extra large artwork is created on a square oversized canvas that measures 3x3' (36x36"). If you are looking for a large painting to make a dramatic statement over the mantelpiece, the sofa or in a foyer, this peacock art will enhance your home decor. Another great decorating idea is to put this huge painting in a dining room over the banquet or over a bed. Wherever you decide to display the peacock art the artwork will give you pleasure throughout the years.
