Be A Good Tarot Client

There are good tarot readers and bad tarot readers - but there are also bad clients. There are some things to do to ensure that you are a good client - one that readers will want to work with. 

It seems like a no-brainer to have this be number one, but you'd be amazed at how many people don't realize the importance of this.  If you had a heart problem you wouldn't go to an eye doctor would you? So if you are looking for love advice you wouldn't go to a reader that focuses on career advice. When you go looking for a reader be sure not to choose the cheapest option, or the closest option. Take a few minutes to explore what a reader is good at. 

This is another important thing to look at. What does the reader have for a code of ethics? You want someone who won't read for just anyone - do they read for minors? do they read for third parties? You need to be comfortable with what the reader will and will not do. It is also important to understand the reader's terms. Nothing like spending $75 on a reading, and then having something come up that causes you to cancel your appointment. No big deal, right? Um, right up until you read the terms and realize the reader has a no refund policy. Or purchasing a reading thinking you are going to speak to someone only to find out that all their readings are email only. Be sure you know what you are getting for your money.

Asking the right types of questions can make or break a good Tarot reading. So what constitutes a good question? The best questions are those that elicit information to empower you to make the best decisions for yourself or situation. They focus on what you can influence or change in a positive and constructive way. Good questions are often open-ended, providing ‘space’ to explore different options and possibilities. But they are also detailed and specific, allowing focus and direction. Good questions focus on yourself rather than others. They create a feeling of responsibility and accountability, reinforcing that you have free will and can indeed shape your own destiny.

This is one of those things that will get you blacklisted if you are an offender. Most readers have lives outside of reading the tarot, and it is important to respect that. If a reader says that they have a 3-5 day lead time to do your reading don't start bothering them 24 hours after you book. Secondly, respect the office hours of the reader. If they leave the office (or shop) at 5pm, don't blow up their phone at 9pm. Respect your reader and their personal space to get the best experience.

There is nothing worse for me then a client who isn't honest. The person who sits across the table from you with the intention to NOT believe a word you say right from the start. The person who when you tell them something the cards reveal sits there and lies to your face. If you aren't honest with your reader then don't expect a good experience. If you want to get an answer about your love life, don't ask about your career. Being honest about what you want and what you are looking for is the best way to get the answers you really need.

Believe it or not, the majority of readers are not psychic. If you really enjoyed the reading TELL YOUR READER! Likewise, if the reader wasn't what you expected, let them know. This helps them grow as a reader, gives them the opportunity to make things right if needed, and helps them to collect social proof of their skills to share with other clients.
