Pick a card, any card!
You ever have one of those weeks that just sucks balls? You know the ones - the car breaks down, the pipes burst, you get in an awful fight with your spouse AND get really sick? That is the kind of week that I have had and I gotta tell you it is just kicking my ass. So instead of the vibrant and light images of some of my other decks I went with the Gothic Tarot to reflect my dark and twisty mood. Here's how it works. See that image above? It contains 4 numbered cards displayed face down. Pick the one that you are the most drawn to and then scroll down to see what the reveal has to say! Sounds easy enough, right? Let's go!

See? Dark and Twisty!
The Gothic Tarot by Joseph Vargo is a slick and elegant 78-card deck conveying a dark gothic mood with images of vampires, gargoyles, ghosts and angels. This deck was published independently but is really well done. Ready to see what your card choice holds?

#1: King of Swords

Here we see a dark angel, holding his sword while mist swirls around his feet. He looks like he has his shit together, right? Not only is he an authority figure, but he captivates you and sends your imagination swirling like the mist. This card suggests that you better make sure you are listening - when this person speaks to you effortlessly (be it a teacher, co-worker, etc) they can be so effortlessly hypnotic that you run the risk of missing the wisdom and knowledge of the actual words coming out of their mouth. Pay attention!

#2: Seven of Swords

This voluptuous vampire woman seems to be trapped, her way out of the crypt barred by swords driven into the steps before her.  But look closer - she is poised to take flight. She tells us that maybe you need to think outside the box to break free of the situation. Do things your way and don't be too concerned with the ideals of others. However she also represents the possibility of sneaking around or twisting things to your own advantage. Maybe you or a lover are operating in secrecy, or maybe you are manipulating a situation at work to make yourself look like the rockstar, even if maybe you are not entirely deserving. You may need to deceive to get where you want to go... use your wits and you'll be fine.

#3: Seven of Pentacles

Ok, this card kinda creeps me out. If you look at the ghostly figure at the gates of this spooky ass house you may notice that his face and top hat make him greatly resemble the Voodoo Loa Baron Samedi. Which is pretty fitting - as this card speaks of having come to a crossroads and needing to decide which way to go now. This card tends to show up in the reading of someone who is pondering a life change. As you stand before these gates maybe you feel fear or frustration at what lies beyond. Take your time, and ponder the LONG TERM ramifications of the options before you.

#4: Five of Wands

Here we see five spooky skeletal beings holding wands and cavorting about. Standing all in a row they are the very embodiment of being blocked. And not only do they stand in your way, but a closer look shows nearly all of them appearing to be laughing at your frustration. Cheeky little bastards aren't they? When you come up against this wall, respect your opponent but don't cower. Maybe you struggle with frustration, fear, hate or even prejudice. Open your mind and try a different approach. The chaotic feel of this card is also a reminder that you need to FOCUS if you are going to get anything done - otherwise you are just a chicken running around with your head cut off.
Comment below and let us know if your card choice was spot on or not! And next week I promise to be a little bit less dark and twisty ~ see you then :-)
