Giant, juicy and kaleidoscopic images depict women submerged or surfacing in stilettos through candy colored waters. The series was inspired by a commercial assignment the well known photographer received that involved photographing Olympic athletes wearing heels. In addition to these luscious surreal underwater photographs are Greenberg's most recent animal series which include fantastical portraits of horses.

 JEREMY STENGER: New Work
Hosfelt
531 W. 36th Steet, nr 10th Avenue
Through July 30, 2011
Images are freely embedded into the paintings. Each piece becomes a fragmented facet of personal life compacted onto the painted surface. Yet the greater the amount of information, personal or other, the harder it seems to achieve communication or meaning. All images only seem to lead back to the surface~ Jeremy Stenger

Jeremy Stenger's second one-person exhibition at Hosfelt Gallery features new paintings that expand Stenger's rich colorful paintings inspired by everything from antique textiles to the pattern on the artist's pillowcase.

Summer hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10-6
