Persimmon Orangeby Miriam Schulman
Persimmon orange is popping up everywhere. This mid-century color is making a comeback but unlike Brady Bunch orange, the modern take on this reddish zesty hues is lighter and more sophisticated than its ancestor.Persimmon is a color that is dominating the season for its warmth and jovial take on the traditional orange. A mix between red and orange, Persimmon gives inhabited spaces that “something extra,” or jolt of energy. I love the way it looks fresh and youthful on sofas, and bed linens. This color looks great with all the other colors in the fall 2011 Pantone trend report from cadet and quarry blue to phlox purple. Look left at the unexpected mix of orange with a plummy throw. The abstract circle painting jazzes up the room with shimmering metallic tones.
In a bedroom, a painting of koi fish is executed with deep teal tones. The painting looks fabulous over a bed with light persimmon orange bed linens.

Orange is liquid happiness!Ken Fulk in House Beautiful 2011 October issue has an exciting idea for incorporating orange into your home without major changes. He says, "Orange is a bold, sophisticated, unapologetic, classic and fresh. After years of trashing a terribly expensive Robsjohn-Gibbings dining table, I decided to cover the top in a piece of glass, reverse painted in orange. I now dine on liquid happiness. I'm convinced I have an entire orange dining room in my future, complete with a chocolate-glazed ceiling and zebra print rug"
