Seriously? Can't We All Just Get Along?

I admit it, I can be a bit "vocal" when I have something I am passionate about. So I can understand when there are others out there that are the same.

But recently I had a very unsettling communication within a tarot group.  We as professionals join these groups to share ideas and offer support to each other.

But someone posed the question in the group
" A tarot reader who tells a client that they cannot see the future is covering up the fact that they have no idea to read the cards, right?"

Um, WHAT? I gotta tell you that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard - and I have heard an awful lot of stupid stuff in my time as a reader.

There are two HUGE reasons why I think that this person is a certifiable nutter...
The first reason is that thing called FREE WILL. I can tell you what I feel will be happening on your path, but I cannot tell you that it will absolutely happen, because you can always change your direction.

But the reason that is the biggest thing is this: IT IS ILLEGAL IN MOST PLACES. Yep, I could be slapped in cuffs and thrown in jail for the crime of fortune telling in certain jurisdictions. These laws are on the books everywhere and have been for decades.  This person argues that there are no laws and that we are all free to make our own choice about what we tell our clients. Ugh, these are the people that make the rest of us look bad.  If I choose to tell my client that they should consider my readings as entertainment only, I don't say that because I think I am a crappy reader, or am in any way lying to my clients - I do it because I wouldn't do well in jail.

Anyway, it became this huge thing, with eventually people calling people names. I left, but all I could think was "why can't we all just get along?"

We'll cover some of the legal aspects of reading in a later blog post.
