Decorating Ideas for Jade Green

Resting somewhere on the color spectrum between deep teal and cedar green is jade green. As green has always been one of my favorite colors in any shade, I used a relaxing and peaceful decorating scheme in my own living room. A dramatic large framed abstract tree painting hangs over a sea foam green couch with jade green and gold pillows. The walls are painted a soft ivory. A jade green glass bowl which was a find from Home Goods serves as the centerpiece of the coffee table. The artwork has bold jade green grass and the trees are made of a collage of sheet music that appear as the bark on birch trees from far away but you can see the piano sheet music as you draw closer. The artwork is available for sale from my website. The price on the website includes the frame as pictured, and is also available unframed for a lower price.

Elissa Cullman of the decorating duo Cullman and Travis says "Pale green is a kind of universal donor. Even our most beige clients seem to respond well to green, probably because it's a color we see so much in nature. This is a soft, celadony green, like a piece of the palest jade. I'll often use it in a master bedroom."

In my post about decorating with persimmon orange, a decorator suggested painting one side of glass to use as a table topper. Jade green is another strong color that also works on the back of glass for a jewel tone special effect. As Peter Dunham suggests "Take this incredible turquoisey blue-green, like you'd see on a cloisonné vase, and paint it on the reverse side of glass. Then use it as a tabletop. You have the effect of color, once removed — even the most color-phobic will usually go for it. And it looks so glossy and deep. Absolutely ravishing."
