best books on creative habits http://schulmanart.blogspot.com/2015/12/the-creative-habit-4-best-books-on.html
This blog post is a continuation of my year of reading. See what inspired me this year and if it inspires you as well! If you are wondering what this has to do with art, then let me share this quote by Twyla Tharp:

“I read for growth, firmly believing that what you are today and what you will be in five years depends on two things: the people you meet and the books you read.” ― Twyla Tharp

“We must embrace the fact that if we don’t commit to thinking and living differently than most people now, we are setting ourselves up to endure a life of mediocrity, struggle, failure and regret—just like most people.” ― Hal Elrod
takeaway: I definitely changed my morning routine as a result of this book, check out My Morning Routine to read more.

“Creativity is an act of defiance.” ― Twyla Tharp (tweet this)
“Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.”― Twyla Tharp (tweet this)
takeaway: Again, her morning routine focuses her day and enhances her creativity.
Charles Duhigg

“Change might not be fast and it isn't always easy. But with time and effort, almost any habit can be reshaped.”―Charles Duhigg
“If you believe you can change - if you make it a habit - the change becomes real.” ― Charles Duhigg
takeaway: great research in here which supports why programs like Weight Watchers and Alcoholics Anonymous work.
“Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” ―Stephen R. Covey
“Start with the end in mind. ” ― Stephen R. Covey
takeaway: This book is a must read for all human beings and many of the other books I read refer to this one which is the grandfather of self-development books. Many of the quotes in this book made their way into my art journal pages... you can see them here.
