The Stress of Holiday Reading
The holidays are stressful enough all on their own. Add in small children and it can become a downright nightmare! I swear if I hear "Can I have..." one more time I may just go full on Grinch. It isn't that I don't love my children, it is just that being a tarot reader at the holidays can be something quite draining.
This was my first Christmas season really doing the professional reader thing full time. I was excited, maybe not being realistic about what the season would be like. You see, my sister site Red Dragon Apothocary gets crazy busy this time of year. I was expecting that same energy to spill over into the tarot side of the business. And then it didn't go quite like I had thought....
It's been weird. The readings have slowed down a bit, which is understandable. People are buying for others on their list instead of spending money for themselves. But the calls and emails I AM getting are more emotionally draining then usual. I am also getting a large number of requests for free readings. And it can be so hard to tell people no - especially this time of year. I know times are tough, and it's Christmas but please remember that your tarot reader is a human being too. Most of us celebrate Christmas same as you....Â
So with less then two weeks left before the "big day" we are taking it easy. I have cut back the call hours and am currently only doing chat and email readings. Trust me, you'll be happier if my three year old isn't screaming in the background. I am working on a turnaround time of about 48 hours which is still pretty close to my normal turnaround. We will be streamlining and revamping our offerings after the first of th year. In the meantime have a Happy Holiday!Â
